The
Picture
of Dorian Gray

Upon the canvas, Dorian Gray's fair face
Is painted with such beauty and such grace
But in his soul, a dark and ugly trace
Of vanity and sin, in equal pace.
His portrait, hidden in his chamber, bears
The marks of all his deeds and thoughts unclean
While he, untouched, remains without a care
A life of pleasure and of youth serene.
But as his wickedness and guilt increase
His portrait shows the rot and decay
And Dorian, seeing this, begins to freeze
In horror of the monster he's become today.
In the end, he destroys the portrait, true
But not the ugliness inside of him, anew.
